Summer Camp 2023 – Wednesday, June 28th to Friday, September 1st

Our camp schedule runs from 9:00 am-4:30 pm Monday through Friday. We also have the option of doing a half-day camp as a separate AM or PM session.

Our camp breakdown is as follows; the AM session is centered on our board game curriculum, which largely focuses on problem-solving and approaches to novel situations presented in board gameplay. Kids, with guidance from our counselors, play board and card games that feature dynamic and solvable problems. After a mid-morning snack, we start our creative board game design workshop. Working independently or as part of a group, kids brainstorm ideas, incorporate game mechanics from the AM sessions, create rules, develop prototypes, and playtest their game creations.

At around 12:00 pm, we provide lunch and take the kids outside to the park to stretch their legs, run around, and get some well-needed activity.

The PM session focuses primarily on three main activities: Tournament-style play, Role-playing games (RPG’s), and free-play. Tournament Style play is where kids can engage in games that encourage friendly competition and tournaments. This can include just about any game such as chess or Go but can also include games such as Magic, The Gathering, KeyForge, Pokemon, and Miniature games like Heroscape and Star Wars Legions. Role-Playing Games are usually the most popular choice for attendees and D&D 5e (Dungeons & Dragons, 5th Ed.) is our primary RPG activity for kids in 4th grade and up. We also offer alternative RPGs like Dungeon World, Mouse Guard, and Mutants, and MasterMinds to diversify experiences and to keep games fresh. Children below 4th grade also have an opportunity to experience introductory RPGs that are age-appropriate. Examples include, No Thank You, Evil!, Hero Kids, Index RPG, Ryuutama, and adaptive D&D 5e. Lastly, kids that want to keep exploring our game library and expand their experiences can continue with Free play.  All kids get a delicious cookie in the afternoon.
